When I started my site, I wanted to make money online and also help others find a way to do it.
When I started my site, I wasn’t sure if I could make money blogging because this is the million-dollar question a lot of us have.
I realized blogging has some great attributes, including revenue.
I was looking for a very flexible schedule, and blogging seemed to fit what I needed.
I knew I wasn’t the best writer, but I had to outweigh the good from the not so good.
I learned that blogging is an easy way to build a business from home. You don’t need a lot of overhead like a brick and mortar business needs.
It could be just you and only you. Okay, I know that sounds a little lonely, but you can always make time for your friends and family because hey, you can work a schedule around your lifestyle.
Easy To Do
Blogging is probably one of the easiest ways to get started. All you really need is the internet, website, domain name, and hosting.
Most WordPress websites come in a variety of themes that you can choose from for free.
Once you have all these 4 elements in place, you’re pretty much set to start your own business online.
The Benefits Of Blogging
One of the benefits of blogging is that you can do it in the comfort of your own home. Yep, lots of people are working in their jammies.
Once you have everything set up, you can help people with problems or decisions they may have on whatever topic they are looking for online.
Blogging is mobile. Some people have unfortunate matters where they need to help take care of a loved one.
Blogging can be done anywhere at any time or any place as long as there is an internet connection.
You are your own boss. Being your own boss is very nice.
You don’t have anyone looking over your shoulders or telling what to do.
Once your site takes off, you can take a few days off and still make money.
This one is cool and that is some people have sites that they haven’t really worked on, but they still get checks from these sites.
Everyone comes from different backgrounds, places, and professions.
People are realizing that the internet can be a lucrative business if you do it right.
Usually, the people who make the decision to blog are people who want to supplement their income, want a full-time income, some want a passive income or blog as a hobby.
How Much Does It Cost To Blog?
The cost to start off is not expensive at all. The Internet, of course, is probably the most expensive part of building a website. The internet is something most of us already have and use, so we might as well use it to our advantage.
A domain name usually will run $14 a year, give or take a buck. I use a service called Wealthy Affiliate and they offer some really cool training to help you monetize your blog.
I recommend WordPress sites, but you can also use a service by Google called Google Blogger.
Both services you can get for free. If you want to be in business for yourself and be in control, you definitely want to own what you are building.
Hosting can cost as low $4 a month depending on what kind of hosting you want and what company you plan on using. A lot of bloggers check out their options, but I get my hosting through Wealthy Affiliate.
How Much Does A Blogger Make?
The money varies so don’t think you’re just going to make millions in a few months, that’s just not the case at all.
Yes, there are rare stories that are exceptions to the rule, but we’re talking about what commonly happens.
It’s good to choose a niche you enjoy blogging about, this way it’s not some project, it’s something you’re committed to and enjoys doing.
Ways To Make Money From A Blog
There are plenty of ways to make money from a blog. Here are some common ways that most bloggers make money from their blogs.
- If you like to do arts and crafts, you can open a shop through Etsy and use your blog to reach your customers.
- Affiliate programs are another way you can make money through your blog. If you have a specific hobby even if it’s shopping, you can teach people from your experiences and apply an affiliate program to your niche website. Affiliate programs will compensate you for each sale you make.
- If your blog is reaching lots of readers, you can get private sponsoring to place ads on your site.
- If you’re good at monetizing sites, but don’t want to keep them. An excellent way to make money from your website is by flipping them.
- You can sell your E-books on your site. If your niche is about baking, you can sell your exclusive recipes.
Difficulties Of Blogging
What I’ve seen that most people have difficulties is that they are not disciplined.
Being that you are working for yourself, people tend to put their blogs to the side for months and months at a time.
Especially when you’re starting a blog, being patient is key and work is required before you reap the benefits of what you sowed.
It could take from a couple of months to even a year to make money from your blog.
If blogging is what you want as a career choice, you must stay committed and be consistent at what you’re doing.
Being that you’re working from home, it can be a lonely world because you don’t have that water cooler talk like you would at a traditional job.
Sometimes it’s a good idea to meet friends for lunch to get out of the house.
Learn To Monetize Your Blog
There are many programs out there that will teach you how to blog. Some can turn out to be very expensive.
The one program I suggest is My #1 Heroic Site. They offer everything you need to begin for free. You get 10 free lessons, WordPress websites, and hosting.
The cool part in regards to the free lessons is that you can figure out if blogging is for you.
If you want to monetize your site you should go premium.
You get lessons, hosting, websites, a keyword tool, live weekly training, and an awesome community of bloggers who are there to support you.
If you want to check this out, you can check it out for free and see if it’s right for you.
The cost is $49 a month or you can pay $495 yearly. I like the $495 a year because it’s more inexpensive than paying $49 a month.
All In All
Blogging is an excellent way to make money online from the comforts of your own home.
It’s an inexpensive way to build a business without the high cost of a brick and mortar business.
I enjoy blogging because I like helping people find ways to make money online.
I have a son with special needs and I’m sure there are plenty of people like me out there who would prefer to make money from home.
This gives me and many people the flexibility to work when and wherever we can.
It’s always nice to earn some money while doing the dishes or helping my children with their homework.
Like I said prior, I recommend My #1 Heroic Site because if you’re unsure if you’d like to blog or not, you can try it out for free.
