I decided to do an article on how to get a refund from a service online. I get comments from people who may not be satisfied with the product or service they purchased. Some of them may have a difficult time getting their money back.
Some of these business opportunities online can be deceiving. If you didn’t get what you paid for, then it may be a good reason for a person to request their money back.
Most of the time you are able to get your money back. There is no guarantee that you will, but don’t think that you won’t if you don’t try. In this article, I’m going to give some tips on how to do it.
Before You Decide
It’s always important to find out how to cancel or get your money back when you decide to purchase a service online.
Before you purchase anything, you want to be a satisfied customer. It’s always important to do your research first before you buy it.
By doing your research first, you can avoid being duped or spending a lot of time trying to get your money back.
It also a good idea to make sure that a service offers a money-back guarantee.
If they don’t, you may have a difficult time getting your money back. It doesn’t mean you won’t, but don’t be surprised if you can’t get your money back.
How Should You Pay
The best way to pay is through a Credit Card or even PayPal. By using a credit card, if the charges are over $50 dollars the credit card company will help you dispute the charges.
By using PayPal, you can add your credit card to your PayPal account. PayPal keeps great records of the charges you’ve made. This way you have the ability to access your receipts if by any chance you can’t find them.
Keep Good Records
For whatever the reason may be on why you started an opportunity online, you want to keep good records.
Mistakes happen all the time and most companies will work it out with you easily, but you have to look at it from their point of view too. Some companies have to go through a process to sort everything out.
By showing your proof, a dispute with a charge can be handled more quickly and efficiently.
Do not procrastinate. The sooner the better.
In most cases, you have up to 60 days to request your money back. The sooner you make your request the better.
Now That We Got That Out Of The Way
The First Step
Gather all your receipts to reference back on dates and transaction numbers.
You want to deal with the company first.
Don’t file complaints unless you went through the company’s policies first. Give them a chance to work it out with you.
Each site is different and will react differently. Not all sites are the same when requesting your money back.
Go back to the site where you purchased the product. Go to their fine print and read their return policy, to find out how to request your money back.
Most of the time, you’re able to contact them by email, a phone call or place a support ticket. This would be a great time to do that.
It’s also important to keep records of your request, gather names of people you spoke to and dates.
Remember to be polite and professional. Usually, at this point, sites will follow through on your request. Once the request is made you will get your money back.
For others, you may have to take further action.
Some sites know that people may not respond and they are waiting for you out to see what your next move will be.
If a site doesn’t respond to your request, you know you’re going to have a challenge on your hands. At this point, it’s time to be a little more persistent with your request.
By paying with a credit card by law in most cases you’re liable for $50 dollars of the charge. Remember this is about the quality of the product you purchased, so you may have a little more difficult time getting your money back.
What Are The Steps You Should Take?
It’s time to go to talk with your bank and let them know what is going on to take further action.
Like I stated earlier by using a credit card, the credit card company can help you with any disputes you have with any charges.
Keep good records though and let the credit card or your bank know that you tried to work it out with the company you have disputed charges with.
Sometimes you’re able to get your money back and the credit card company may reverse the charges.
Nothing Is Working What Can I Do Now?
I know you just want your money back and you don’t have time for games.
If you’re really having trouble with charges you can file a complaint with the FTC.
In this video, they show the common reasons why people make complaints and even offer a phone number to call if you choose to do that.
The FTC also provides a sample letter that you can use to request your money back.
If you’re going to send a letter, make sure it’s a certified letter, this way you are able to obtain more records that you did your part.
Some Times You Have To Be Persistent
A lot of times people are being deceived, it’s not your fault. With the Internet, some of these sites can really make what appears to be legit so not legit.
This is why I stress to do your research first before you shell out any money.
It may even get to the point where you have to take legal action. Some of these sites are overseas so you may have a difficult time getting your money back.
This is why I like to deal with businesses that are transparent. I even did a review on a site where they stated testimonials have been remunerated
Don’t Be Ashamed To Put It Out There
You can also file a complaint with the BBB sometimes they will be able to meditate for you. The BBB also gives you info on common scams that are out there.
Most of the time Government Agencies are not able to get your money back, but by filing a complaint, you’re doing your part to let others know that these sites can’t get away with what they are doing.
You can even go as far as filing a lawsuit. Before you begin the process, though, you’d have to write a demand letter.

I hope it doesn’t get to the point where you have to take legal action. It’s always best to do your research before you decided to begin a business online. I’ve done many reviews and a lot of these sites can be very deceptive with their opportunities.
If a site claims that the money you make is too good to be true then most likely it is. It is absolutely possible to make money from home, but it does take work to make money online.
I like to let people know when you come across an opportunity, if they can’t deliver on what you will be doing in their ads then most likely it’s a scam. Transparency of a site that is asking for your money is a very important key point.
